Solar Grazing

SHEEP ON THE GO LOGO.png

Solar grazing is targeted grazing done on solar farms, usually with sheep, for the purpose of managing the vegetation around solar panels to maximize energy capture. The practice is sometimes called “agrivoltaics.” It offers the following benefits over conventional means of vegetation control:

  • Well-managed grazing can improve soil and promote beneficial vegetative cover, restoring a solar site after construction

  • Grazing eliminates most need for chemical pesticides and machinery

  • Solar farms managed with grazing layer sustainable, local agriculture over renewable energy production, benefiting nearby communities and the world!

Sheep On The Go™ affiliates are specially-equipped targeted grazing operations that can handle large, sheep-centric solar grazing projects. Click the button to find an affiliate near you. For more information about solar grazing in general, check out the American Solar Grazing Association.
